bay in pembrokeshire. it is undoubtedly one of the most delightful seaside villages in the whole of wales. home to three safe sandy beaches the village lies at the head of a small cove that has a slipway for launching small craft. the beach has plenty of small rock pools and sea caves to explore and shells and sea glass to collect. the surrounding sea wall is a perfect vantage point to sit with a drink and watch the world and their dog go by. a visit to little haven would not be complete without a walk along the point to the headland and a chance to watch the sun set over the atlantic ocean. the village is well used by inshore fishermen, dingy sailors, winsurfers and families carrying buckets and spades. also a popular meeting place for visitors and local people with 3 excellent pubs, bistro, village cafe, gift shop and pottery. it is possible to walk round the headland at low tide to the adjacent beaches of settlands and broad haven. these are both wide sandy beaches that are great for an impromptu ball game, gentle wander or relaxing lie down. the safe gently shelving beaches and clear blue water should tempt even the most sea-shy to dip their toes or to take on the atlantic waves.. back to top places to visit st davids (30 minutes) officially a city, but really a little town without the pollution, traffic jams and ′could be anywhere′ chain shops. the cathedral is well worth a visit. there is also a good selection of outdoor clothes shops, craft shops and art galleries to browse around followed by a locally made organic ice cream, homemade chocolates, or cuppa in one of the local cafes. there is a good tourist information centre here too. solva (20 minutes) lovely natural harbour complete with fishing boats, lobster pots and sailing dinghies. a wonderful walk along the hrabourside to the headland overlooking st brides bay. the village has a large craft shop, a couple of really interesting art galleries, some very good restaurants and four pubs and the buildings are painted in just about every colour of the rainbow. island hopping there are daily boat trips from st david′s to ramsey island and from martins haven and dale to smoker and skokholm and grassholm. a great way to learn about pembrokeshire and to spot seals, porpoises, sea birds and other local wildlife. don′t forget your binoculars and camera. or your sea legs. dale and st anne′s head (15 minutes) overlooking milford haven a fascinating place to watch people messing about in yachts, windsurfers and super tankers. dale has a good pub and watersport centre providing equipment hire and courses in a range of activities. you can walk from the village to the light house at st anne′s head to enjoy views of the south pembrokeshire coast. newgale beach (15 minutes) two mile long sand and pebble storm beach which has room for just about every activity under the sun (and wind). the beach is great for a bracing walk in all weather and the pub over the road is a good place to chill out , thaw out and sometimes dry off. whitesands bay and carn llidi (30 minutes) a short drive north of st davids. a lovely sandy beach and hang out for the local surfing hotshots. there is a lovely walk along the six million year old coast and up the local hill called carn llidi which has fantastic views of ramsey island and the north pembrokeshire coast. porthgain (1 hour) on the coast between st davids and fishguard lies the old fishing and mining harbour at porthgain. a really interesting history perhaps best learnt about in the local ′sloop inn′. you can walk along the cliffs to the blue lagoon at abereiddy. the village also has an excellent seafood restaurant , a couple of art galleries and the nearby john knapp fisher gallery is a great place for a special souvenir. castlemartin peninsular. castlemartin penninsular (1 hour) a bit of a drive from little haven but a lovely secluded section of limestone cliffs in south pembrokeshire. a walk along the cliff top will take you past a series of manmade and natural wonders including ′the green bridge of wales′ a natural limestone arch carved by the sea, stack rock which is home to more seabirds than you could ever count, and lastly, st govans chapel nestled in the side of the cliff but accessible by steps, which local legend claims you will also find difficult counting. oakwood theme park and tenby (50 minutes) the biggest and best theme park in wales with a wide range of roller coaster and water rides that turn the knuckles white and the complexion green. tenby is also easily reached as a day trip from little haven where you can explore the walled town and nearby caldey island. haverfordwest (20 minutes) the county town of pembrokshire is just seven miles inland by car or bus. there are plenty of shops and a market to stock up on provisions, a cinema and swimming pool if it rains and a castle and riverside walk to explore. back to top click on each of the images below to see the haven to nolton haven passes along the cliff top at the village. turn south at the end of the point and you can walk along the cliff top to martins haven. heading the other way the coast path passes through broad haven and then north to nolton haven. there are plenty of picnic points along the way or stop off at druidstone hotel for lunch and a drink. there are year round coastal bus services specially designed for walkers. the pembrokeshire coast national park website has useful information. surfing and windsurfing and kitesurfing surfers, kite surfers and windsurfers visit the area year round to play with the atlantic rollers and the warm waters of the gulf stream. lessons and kit hire are available from haven sports and the beaches are suitable for people of all abilities. the
